The faculty was established in the college in June 1972.The first batch of B.Com passed out in April 1975. M.Com (P.G. Course) was introduced in July 1987 with special subject Banking & Finance. The faculties always take steps to enrich the students with the help of various teaching and learning methodologies. In case of special Subjects like Law, Income Tax our department organizes different guest lectures of eminent personalities from professional fields like Auditors, Advocates as well as from corporate fields.
The Department is pioneering in research, Part time Ph.D Programme is started in first in the South Arcot District in the early 2000. Many Scholars benefited and occupied the position of RJD, Principle in the Government Tamil Nadu, More than 36 Candidates awarded with Ph.D till date. In the year 2016 the department got approval and affiliation from the Thiruvalluvar University to conduct full time Ph.D Program and Part time and full time M. Phil., Degree Course.
We have strong alumni who are presently working at different positions in reputed sectors like Education, corporate, Banks, Business etc. We focus on overall development of our students and hence we encourage them to take part in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities like NSS, NCC, Cultural events and also in various college level and university level competitions.
We follow the practice of industrial and field visits for U.G. and P. G. students for practical and project Work. For our average students we conduct remedial teaching and the progress of our students is observed through mentor and mentee. We conduct Special care couching like bridge course for the students who come from different areas. Our departments has prominent faculty with very good academic records. Our entire faculty has completed their Ph. D and our head of the department completed D.Litt., Our faculty always tries to enhance their knowledge by participating in various co-curricular activities like examination duties, seminars, workshops, National and International level seminars, NSS activities, E-content development etc.
